HEMPSTEAD, NY (December 7, 2024) - It was another overwhelming offensive display from NY Greek American SC on its home turf.
Jacob David Woznicki and Darakatulla Sharifi combined for two goals, and NY Greek American SC went on to defeat Worldwide Problems FC 6-2 on Saturday night to claim the second NISA Nation National Championship at Hofstra University Soccer Stadium.
"It was an exciting final and NY Greek Americans are a top side," NISA Nation Director Matt Morse said. "Congratulations to the EPSL on producing the first two NISA Nation National Champions."
Woznicki assisted on the game's opening goal by Sharifi in the 14th minute, and Francesco Perinelli added a second four minutes later as Ny Greek American jumped on top early.
Angel Flores, last year's SoCal Premier League Player of the Year, made it 2-1 with a flying header in the 51st minute to get Worldwide Problems FC back in the game.
Perinelli fed Woznicki for the a 3-1 lead in the 62nd minute, and Woznicki added his second assist 10 minute later on a second goal from Sharifi.
Adam Marcu and Paul McVeigh tacked on goals as NY Greek American built its lead with goals in the 82nd and 86th minutes to run away from their opponent.
In the closing stages, Luis Juarez hit from the top of the area to give Worldwide Problems FC a second goal and make it 6-2 in the 88th minute.
NY Greek American SC qualified for the NISA Nation National Championhip tournmant via the club's 2023-'24 Eastern Premier Soccer League title. The club then defeated Roc City Boom in the NISA Nation East Regional Final to advance.
