WESTMINSTER, CA (December 6, 2024) – Talk about putting actions behind a name.
Problems FC – then Worldwide Problems FC starting in late 2023 – has been a problem for opponents ever since advancing to the Raul Briones Cup Final earlier that year.
“That was a launching pad for us as a club,” Problems FC owner Mark Caudillo said. “The players could begin to see what was possible.”
The club has taken two league titles since, winning the 2023-’24 SoCal Premier League championship and promoting into and winning the NISA Nation Coast Region title in Fall 2024.
“We love the platform that Matt Morse has created with NISA Nation and the Southwest Premier League,” Caudillo said. “We joined the SoCal Premier League and worked our way to the top. No head starts. No discounts.”
It’s a run to be admired by any amateur club, and now the team plays for the NISA Nation Championship against NY Greek Americans SC at Hofstra University Soccer Stadium on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET.
“It’s a great story and we’re very proud of the job Mark has done with his Problems,” said Morse, NISA Nation’s Director. “They’ve played tough games, had some growing pains and fought through it all to win some tough games and now they get a shot at a National Championship. They’ve done it the right way.”
Worldwide Problems FC recently earned a 2-1 victory over Las Vegas Legends, a NISA Nation championship finalist last year, in this year’s West Regional in Las Vegas on Nov. 24.
Kentrell Dorsey scored the match winner late in the second half for Worldwide Problems FC, which played with only 10 men for more than 80 minutes after an early red card.
“So crazy,” Caudillo said. “They had the fight in them that day. Hopefully they’ll have it again in New York!”
Defender Mark Neal was selected Man of the Match in the West Region final, playing 90-plus minutes in the win.
Experienced midfielder Angel Flores was the SoCal Premier League Player of the Year for the 2023-’24 seasons, and Coby Jacobs and Aaron Abarca have contributed with strong performances over the same stretch for the club.
Goalkeeper Isaac Swanson allowed only one goal in two tournament matches at the West Regional. Swanson made more than 700 saves as a four-year varsity captain at Waynesville (MO) High School. He previously played at Westmont College (NCAA Division II) in Santa Barbara, CA.
